longi green energy technology co., ltd (longi), a leading global solar energy technology company, has recently received the latest certification report from the institute for solar energy research in hamelin, germany (isfh). the report shows that the conversion efficiency of longi's self-developed silicon heterojunction cells has reached 26.81%.
martin green, "the father of modern solar power" and professor at the university of new south wales, announced via video on november 19 that the cell efficiency rate of 26.81% achieved by longi is currently the highest record for silicon-based solar cell efficiency in the world, regardless of technology route. this is the latest world record achieved after five years since the japanese company set a single crystalline silicon cell efficiency record of 26.7% in 2017. it is the first time in pv history that a chinese solar technology company has set a world record for silicon cell efficiency.

it is reported that, since june 2021, the high-efficiency crystalline silicon heterojunction cell r&d team of longi has constantly broken and refreshed the original silicon heterojunction cell world record, from 25.26% to 26.81%, which achieved a miracle of 1.55% increase in absolute value in a year and four months. in particular, within a month, longi has achieved 26.74%, 26.78% and 26.81%, setting a new record for silicon solar cell efficiency. it again reflects longi's determination to continuously focus on scientific and technological r&d and industrial progress. this mature technology and the world record achieved on a large area of an entire silicon wafer are also scarce in the history of photovoltaic technology development.
longi's breakthrough in the world record of silicon solar cell efficiency has also received attention from the international energy agency, energy transition commission, world business council for sustainable development, and various global industry associations and organizations. longi and chinese solar technology companies have continuously focused on innovation and breaking the limits, attracting widespread recognition.
